Laird has expanded its international reach and proximity in Vietnam by opening a manufacturing plant near Hanoi - its first in country. This will enable the global technology company to better serve manufacturers of smart phones, portable electronics and other devices.

This facility in Bac Ninh is one of more than 50 Laird facilities in Asia, Europe and the United States. By opening this plant, Laird joins a number of the world's leading multinational corporations making foreign direct investments (FDI) in Vietnam. According to government statistics, in April there were more than 16,300 active FDI projects.

The plant will predominantly manufacture precision metals and electronic materials for Laird's Performance Materials Division. This division designs and supplies electromagnetic interference shielding, thermal management solutions and signal integrity products for the smart phone, transportation, IT/telecoms, medical and consumer industries worldwide.

The Bac Ninh facility will compliment Laird's design centre and Model Solution prototype business, both in Seoul, South Korea.

To celebrate the opening of the plant, Laird's Chief Executive Officer David Lockwood hosted an event which was attended by employees, regional dignitaries, government officials and journalists. At the event Lockwood commented "Vietnam has grown to become a leading manufacturing centre for many global technology companies, and we’re very glad to be among them. This plant will further strengthen our design and manufacturing capabilities worldwide.”
