A desktop robot for focused plasma treatment, the JOT400 Plasma Cell, has been launched by JOT Automation. The JOT400 Plasma Cell is offered with a programmable path control system which performs cold plasma pre-treatment for products as small as a wristwatch computer up to a 10-inch tablet.

“With our fully automated solution, pure surfaces for a stable adhesive bonding are achieved quickly while leaving easily harmed touchscreens untouched. The plasma treatment is done precisely only to areas where it is needed to gain a high-quality tape or glue joint. This generates less scrap in the display gluing process leading to remarkable cost savings,” explains Ville Vatanen, Director at JOT Automation.

“JOT’s more advanced solution has a plasma brush application integrated to it for cleaning and removing tension from surfaces to achieve even higher-quality joints. The need for clean, strong joints in today’s advanced displays is very important for the products' longevity and quality.”

“Our tested, reliable and fast solution is targeted at telecom and automotive customers, who assemble touchscreen products in large volumes. Our robot ensures that this process is done effortlessly.”

The JOT400 Plasma Cell is the most compact lean solution on the market, requiring less space and making it easy to move on a factory floor. It measures just 400 mm x 740 mm x 645 mm and has X-Y-Z servo axes. With a plasma path control, atmosphere plasma brush process, flame sensor and touchscreen user interface it is the most advanced of its kind.
