Featuring a tough polyimide carrier to fulfil demanding automotive and industrial applications, the high-durability Gap Pad 1000HD thermal material has been introduced by Bergquist. The polyimide carrier maximises puncture and tear resistance and enhances handling characteristics, while also ensuring high dielectric breakdown voltage of over 10,000V.

Extending Bergquist’s well-known Gap Pad family, Gap Pad 1000HD has thermal conductivity of 1.0W/m-K and displays outstanding interfacing and wet-out characteristics, even to rough or uneven surfaces.

By combining high thermal performance with enhanced durability, Gap Pad 1000HD is suited for applications such as automotive energy-storage devices like battery or ultra-capacitor packs, and electronic equipment for trucks, buses or planes, as well as other demanding applications such as telecommunications equipment or computer peripherals.

Gap Pad 1000HD is available in six standard thicknesses in the range of 0.508-3.175mm (0.020-0.125”), and in sheet form or as die-cut parts compatible with manual or automated assembly processes. The polyimide side has minimal tack while the upcoated side has high inherent tack, allowing a reliable thermally efficient bond without requiring additional adhesive. The wide operating temperature range from -60 to +180°C exceeds the range required for many automotive and industrial applications. UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant rating ensures the safety of equipment and end users.
