Higher Resolution for Laser Scanning and Laser Projection

The newly developed LinScan scanner technology from Fraunhofer IPMS opens up new possibilities for laser scanners and laser projectors. This new driving scheme allows switching of the target positions of the laser beam quickly, and a dynamic adjustment of the scanning speed is also possible. 3D cameras or miniaturized laser projectors equipped with this technology offer higher resolution and make innovative solutions possible, such as robot eyes ...

DEWOBBLED – minimizing optical path modulation

Laser sources are widely used in the industry for labeling and material-machining applications. To meet the fast growing demands concerning precision and processing speed, optical scanner systems are applied for the modulation or deflection of light. Compared to mechanical translation stages optical scanner systems provide clear benefits regarding positioning accuracy and repeatability as well as very high dynamics.

Researchers have now developed an optical sensor for the windshield that can tell the difference between fog and darkness.

Driver-assistance systems help prevent accidents. Quite simply, the more a car knows about its surroundings, the more intelligently it can respond to them. Researchers have now developed an optical sensor for the windshield that can even tell the difference between fog and darkness. The system will also be available for small cars.
