Hand soldering competition winner crowned at ELECTROSUB 2019
In conjunction with ELECTROSUB 2019, Microsolder and IPC conducted the second regional European qualification for the IPC Hand Soldering Competition in Budapest, Hungary on April 3rd to 5th, 2019. The competition in Budapest drew 33 professional hand soldering competitors for the coveted hand soldering regional competition crown.

Hand soldering world champion crowned
The hand soldering competition from IPC returned to the United States with the first-ever IPC Hand Soldering World Championship and Rework Competition, held at IPC APEX EXPO 2019 in San Diego, California. Contestants representing Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand participated in the event.

IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries has announced that the September 2018 findings from its North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. Year-over-year growth continued for industry sales and orders. The book-to-bill ratio for September retreated slightly to 1.04.

North American PCB industry growth continues
IPC has announced the July 2018 findings from its North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. Year-over-year growth continued for industry sales and orders. The book-to-bill ratio for July held steady at 1.05. Total North American PCB shipments in July 2018 were up 10.8% compared to the same month last year. This year to date, shipments are 10.5% above the same period last year. Compared to the preceding month, July shipments decreased 19.1%.

Survey reveals dynamic outlook for equipment manufacturers
A preliminary survey in IPC’s new Pulse of the Electronics Industry global data service has revealed a bullish outlook for most segments of the electronics industry, especially for equipment manufacturers and PCB fabricators. These industry segments showed the highest levels of confidence in the direction of current-state indicators. They, along with OEMs, reported the most positive expectations for growth in the next six months and 12 months.

IPC's Validation Services Program has awarded an IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML) Class 2, to Excel Electronics. IPC just announced the July 2016 findings from its monthly North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. Compared to the same month last year, PCB sales growth continued in July, while order growth was negative, causing the book-to-bill ratio to slip to 0.94.

IPC has announced  the May 2016 findings from its monthly North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. Sales and orders in May continued ahead of last year’s levels, but at slower rates than in recent month. The book-to-bill ratio also declined slightly but remains positive at 1.01.

IPC delivers first automotive standard for rigid printed boards

In September 2015, IPC delivered revision D of IPC-6012, Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards. Building on this base standard, IPC has just developed the first automotive addendum, IPC-6012DA, Automotive Applications Addendum to IPC-6012D Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards.

Handbook covers troubleshooting PCB Fabrication Processes

IPC has released Troubleshooting PCB Fabrication Processes (IPC-9121) which is aimed at anyone involved in manufacturing or purchasing printed circuit boards. This new handbook contains more than 650 PCB process defects, with causes and corrective actions for each. It also includes hundreds of full-color photos demonstrating real-world process defects.

IPC crowns hand solder champ at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2016

A  record 43 competitors competed at IPC’s Hand Soldering Competition at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany. Taking first place was Ekatarina Stahlmann of Grundig Business Syst., who earned 495 points out of 506.
