Fully functional additively manufactured IoT devices
An additive electronics provider, Nano Dimension, has announced it has successfully printed and tested an Internet of Things (IoT) transceiver, an additively manufactured IoT device. Using its DragonFly Pro precision additive manufacturing system, Nano Dimension reportedly printed a transceiver prototype in 12 hours with improved performance over traditional manufacturing.

3D printing side-mounting technology onto circuit boards
The additive electronics provider, Nano Dimension, has announced side mounting technology for additively manufactured printed circuit boards (PCBs). With Nano Dimension’s DragonFly Precision Additive Manufacturing System, the technology can print and solder components to the top, bottom and sides of the PCB, resulting in as much as a 50% increase in board space when compared with traditionally manufactured PCBs.

Additive electronics provider, Nano Dimension, has unveiled a new SOLIDWORKS add-in to its DragonFly 2020 Pro 3D Printer that makes additive manufacturing with embedded electronics a feasible option for mechanical and electrical engineers. For the first time, 3D printing of complex prototypes made of polymers and metals and designed in Dassault Systèmes’ SOLIDWORKS applications can be easily 3D-printed on Nano Dimension’s DragonFly 2020 Pro 3D Printer in a single build process.

Nano Dimension sells 3D Printer to University of Technology Sydney

Nano Dimension has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nano Dimension Technologies Ltd., has received a purchase order for a DragonFly 2020 Pro 3D printer from its distribution partner Emona Instruments Pty Ltd and the University of Technology Sydney. University of Technology Sydney will be the first academic institution in the Asia-Pacific region to install a DragonFly 2020 Pro 3D printer. The printer will enable advanced research into 3D printed electronics.

Development of 3D printed electronic modules receives grant approval

Nano Dimension has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nano Dimension Technologies, has received a grant approval from the Israel Innovation Authority, which will be used to finance a project to develop 3D printing of electronic modules for space applications. The total approved budget for this project is approximately $87,000 (NIS 309,000), of which the Israel Innovation Authority will finance 50%. According to the terms of the grant, Nano Dimension will pay royalties on future sales up to the full grant amount.

Nano Dimension supplies 3D printer to Syqe Medical

Nano Dimension has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nano Dimension Technologies has supplied, in return for payment, its flagship DragonFly 2020 3D Printer to Syqe Medical. Syqe is the Tel Aviv-based developer of the world’s first selective-dose, pharmaceutical grade medical cannabis inhaler. It uses 3D printers to prototype and produce inhalers, which have been used in Israel’s Rambam Hospital for more than a year.

Increasing demand for in-house PCB prototyping

A recent survey of PCB designers and manufacturers, electrical engineers, OEMs and others interested in 3D-printed PCBs and circuits reveals that there is increasing demand for in-house prototyping for research and product development. The interest is particularly keen among companies that spend as much or more than $100,000 each year for prototyping services.
