Architectural project showcases the maker movement

With the Maker Economy Starter Kit, WASP suggests a living concept and an economical point of view. The project showcases how 3D printing can create a huge, moving technological village. The project will be set up in a 400m2 area at the Rome Maker Faire from 14th to 16th October 2016.

Canoeing, surfing and the Paralympics; thanks to 3D printing

Veronica Yoko Plebani is ready for the Rio Paralympics. Fabrizio Passetti is preparing for the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship in La Jolla, California. They are two Italian athletes with a rich history of trophies and success. They also both use Prosthesis 3D printed by Marco Avaro, Biomedical Engineer who is part of the WASPmedical team.

Invitation issued to help build the first printed house

At the Shamballa Technological Village, the BigDelta prints and WASP are organising open-air workshops inviting all interested to participate. The WASP’s Technological Village is working non-stop at the open-air construction site, in Massa Lombarda (Ravenna), and proceeding with experiments from Monday to Friday.

3d print big objects for everyday use

WASP has produced a new line of 3D printers designed to produce big objects which can be used in everyday life. Early experimentation concerned 1m high objects, but could easily print products of different measurements. Since this is a custom made line of printers, WASP are able to modify printers for users as necessary.

A partnership between CSP (Centro Sviluppo Progetti – WASProject) and the municipality of Massa Lombarda (Ravenna) in Italy, has dedicated a green area in the industrial zone of the town to a technological village with 3D printing at its heart - the heart of this project is the 12 metres high printer BigDelta WASP.

Collaboration to deepen the knowledge of LDM

The 3D printing of clay or other fluid materials is a big topic of research in additive manufacturing world. Polymers and plastics are easier to 3D print because they set at room temperature after heating so you don’t have too many problems due to collapses or overhangs.

Giant 3D printer can be used to build houses

Currently the largest 3D printer in the world, the 12m tall Big Delta from WASP will be shown at the Reality of Dream festival in Massa Lombarda, Italy, 18th - 20th September. The initiative was presented during a press conference with the mayor of Massa Lombarda, Daniele Bassi, and WASP’s creator, Massimo Moretti.

3D printer enables painting with light

  Gianluca Pugliese, aka Owen, is an Italian artist who has been making 'CNC light paintings' using 3D printing. He takes a picture in a dark environment with long exposure times in order to capture all light movements with the camera. Essentially it is painting with light.

3D printing concrete can cut pollution by 50%

  WASP has begun its challenge to print houses with 100% natural materials, travelling 0km. Concrete is bad for our planet, it generates Co2, however WASP says that with 3D printing, it can cut down pollution by more than 50%.

LDM extruder kit offers adaptability & versatility

WASP has announced its LDM (Liquid Deposit Modeling) extruder for ceramic materials, which can be adapted to most 3D printers on the market. WASP’s work has always been focused on the development of systems that allow the use of functional materials like ceramics, porcelain, clay, aluminium, zirconium and advanced ceramics, in order to promote digital handicraft and self-production.

3D printing in the ruins of Pompei

In what may be the first ever case of using 3D printing in the restoration of artistic and cultural heritage, WASP has been asked to collaborate in restorative intervention by the Special Superintendence for Cultural Heritage of Pompei, Ercolano and Stabia. Two of the company's Delta 4070 3D printers have been supplied to reproduce 1:1 scale versions of the casts of citizens who perished following Vesuvius' eruption in 79AD.
