productronica is a home fixture for Munich-based Rohde & Schwarz and the company will field an array of solutions covering Industry 4.0, test and measurement for production and development, and automatic production test systems.

As smart factories rely heavily on wireless communications technologies to automate their processes and increase productivity, Rohde & Schwarz will display a range of solutions to prevent disruption of wireless systems.

Handheld spectrum analysers such as the R&S Spectrum Rider FPH and the R&S MNT100 RF interference locator can detect radio interference that might cause output delays.

To measure coverage and provide insight into the RF performance of the network, manufacturers can use state-of-the-art drive test and walk test scanners from the R&S TSMx family. Smartphone based RF optimisation and service quality assessment with the Qualipoc Android can help optimise the service quality of a network within a smart factory.

Test and measurement solutions on show will demonstrate how to maintain high throughput and keep costs low in production environments.

The latest version of the R&S CMW100 radio communication tester, will display a tried and tested production tester for 5G FR1 devices. The flexible one-box solution with eight antenna ports also covers 4G, 3G, WLAN and Bluetooth.

For production tests of 5G FR2 devices, covering parametric testing in an over-the-air test setup, Rohde & Schwarz has developed the compact R&S CMPQ a turnkey mmWave OTA test solution for FR2. This solution is based on a radio communication tester, a shielded cube and accessories.

For speed-optimized production testing of 4G and 5G base stations, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate a scalable high-performance RF test solution with a setup based on cloud technology, comprising the R&S SMBV100B signal generator, the R&S FSVA3000 signal and spectrum analyser(pictured) and the R&S Quickstep sequencing software.

The combination of the R&S SMBV100B and R&S FSVA3000 is also ideal for flexible testing of WLAN, cellular and IoT components and devices in R&D, verification and production.

For comprehensive testing of state-of-the-art and next generation automotive radar sensors, a new, harmonised solution consisting of the R&S ATS1500C automotive radar test chamber and the R&S AREG100A automotive radar echo generator will be displayed. They form an indirect far-field chamber solution that ensures reliable and reproducible testing of radar sensors on a small footprint.

The R&S ZNL and R&S ZNBT20 are two vector network analyser solutions optimised for production applications. The R&S ZNL features fast and precise measurements and comes with a low price tag, perfect for filter testing.

The R&S ZNBT20 with its true-multiport architecture features 24 ports up to 20 GHz and outstanding RF specifications. It is ideal for parallel measurements and short test times, for instance for verifying beamformer ICs for phased array antennas.

For the challenging measurement tasks during development and other areas with increased requirements in terms of RF performance, flexibility and measurement depth, Rohde & Schwarz will highlight a number of products and applications at productronica.

They include a measurement solution for active, frequency converting devices, using the R&S ZNA high-end vector network analyser. The company will also demonstrate 5G base station testing under fading conditions with the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and R&S FSW43 signal and spectrum analyser.

Another product highlight is the R&S SMA100B analogue microwave signal generator, which reaches a frequency of 67 GHz and in overrange up to 72GHz while offering an extremely pure analogue output signal. The recently-released R&S RTP164 high-performance oscilloscope offering 16GHz bandwidth, will also be on display.

With innovative features such as realtime deembedding, a hardware based 16Gbps clock data recovery and an integrated TDR/TDT solution, it is the ideal oscilloscope for signal integrity and debugging in the lab.

Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary GEDIS will present selected automatic test systems – including the GTE300, a modular automatic test system for in-circuit tests, function tests, boundary scan and flash, optimised for testing of high quantities. Depending on the application environment, the GTE300 can be used for either island or inline operation.

productronica takes place in Munich (November 12-15).
