PDR has told us that Horizon Sales will discuss its new PDR IR-TS Series of micro-focused HALT/HASS thermal test systems at the SMTA Wisconsin Expo & Tech Forum (May 2, 2017). Horizon Sales is PDR’s exclusive representative in the Midwestern United States.

The PDR IR-TS One Bench Top System and TS-2100 Cabinet System have been designed to thermally cycle key critical components and assemblies to detect defects. Applications include testing electronic assemblies, electronic devices, bonded structures of plastics and ceramics in a wide variety of fields, including medical, automotive, avionics, space and defense.

Using PDR’s non-destructive duel thermal stress screening process, based on a variation of HALT/HASS principles, the systems are able to focus the testing on suspected problem areas to safely screen out early field failures caused  by design, environmental, production and structural defects.

In component testing, the PCB is preheated while the focused IR is aimed at the center of the component to directly heat up the die – in either cycle or step test modes to check the design for integrity. For solder-joint validation, the entire component is heated. The systems use PDR’s unique dual-zone IR heating and gas cooling process that independently heats the PCB and component in a safe thermal cycle, and can be used during live system/function HALT/HASS testing.

Horizon Sales manages and sells to the Midwestern states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania, Illinois, Eastern Iowa and Wisconsin.
