igus has launched the B160, a recent black option of its iglidur tribo-tape. Where a standard bearing solution won’t suffice, the B160 has proved an excellent alternative across many automotive applications. The iglidur tribo-tape offers a low friction and noise dampening properties and will eliminate rattles and squeaks wherever there is a metal to metal or plastic contact; typical examples include leaf springs, steering columns, seating, window mechanisms and arm rests.

Reels of tribo-tape are offered in two standard widths 100/120mm, available with or without self-adhesive back, but can be ordered in any width up to and including 500mm; standard thickness is 0.5mm, without adhesive back, the 500mm width is 1.0mm thick.

“Following customer feedback on the original blue and white materials, it was clear that there is a requirement for a tape that cannot be seen within an application,” said Rob Dumayne, Director, igus. “This new black option offers users much more design freedom where the iglidur tribo-tape is a visible part within a system.

“The black B160 tribo-tape provides a higher wear resistance than other materials available in the range. As with all iglidur tribo-tape materials, it is also self-lubricating and maintenance free,” continued Rob.

Custom die cut parts are available, whether as a specially tailored by-the-metre product or freely designed prefabricated parts, from one-offs to high-volumes, igus will produce custom parts according to the requirement.
